review 1: Jimi Hendrix a Brother’s Story by Leon Hendrix is a great biography on the life of the famous rock star Jimi Hendrix. The book goes into detail about Jimi and Leon’s childhood, but it doesn’t explore Jimi’s famous years. It is a change in pace from other biographies because most other biographies only give a glimpse of what it was like for Hendrix when he was famous. The book is written by Jimi’s brother, Leon and he gives a very unique perspective on one of the best guitarists of all time. In the beginning of the book Leon writes about the tough times the brothers faced as kids. Later in the book, Leon writes about Jimi leaving the house and going off on his own. The only thing I did not like about this book was that it did not give a very good picture of how ... moreJimi got famous. Leon writes that Jimi started calling him and telling him that good things were about to happen, but then “boom” he’s famous! After Jimi dies, Leon writes about his life without Jimi. Leon starts getting into trouble and doing drugs and ends up going to jail. At the same time as Leon’s troubles, a lawsuit was going on against one of Jimi’s old managers. Leon claimed Jimi’s money was rightfully his, but it’s hard to believe because of his drug addiction This book is definitely a great book if you are a Hendrix fan. It shows a cool glimpse into the life of the famous rockstar and is a very entertaining read. However I would not recommend it if you are reading to find out about his music career.
review 2: What an eye opening story! From UFOs to the harshest earthly realities, this interesting biography weaves a intriguing story. Such a tumultuous childhood for Leon and his more famous brother, it boggles my mind how they made it through their formative years in one piece. The author pulls no punches and holds nothing back it seems, this is a tale told bluntly. More than just a look into the life of a star this is an intimate story of a family during good times and bad. less

Interesting take on the life of the legend. Everyone has a different story to tell about him.

Quick read. A few interesting parts. Sad but some wild, fun, exciting craziness as well.
