Read from the start: Click Here – Swept Away (Snow Angel) Locke took me to the dance floor amid others that were having fun with the lively swing music. Laughter and smiles aplenty set the stage and I joined in. My mom always says you can choose to be happy. The opposite is true too of course. Elton doesn’t have any issue giving his heart away to Penelope so why should I let the evil of one man cause me to hide mine away and only pretend to give it up? The band transitioned to a faster song that was trendy and Latin inspired. I loved the Latin inspired songs, they evoke an energy on the dance floor that would cheer up the grumpiest of Guss’s. I threw my arms up along with a bunch of others. I work in a bar and I know how the dance floor works, even a fancy one. I found the rhythm quickly, moved my hips and as I lowered my hands, Locke took them in his. He swirled, twirled, spun and dipped me. I laughed and let him manhandle me as his hands guided my hips, arms and eventually my ass. I laughed every time he grabbed my ass to pull me closer then he’d pushed me away holding my hand only to yank me back in. I know there are other people here dancing but they were just the little bits floating around us. Locke can dance and I loved every second of it. I sometimes find dancing boring or repetitive but Locke had a wild abandon about him that was contagious and the little bits floating around us caught on fast. I saw a glimmer of silver and white near the band as Locke put his arms around me with laughter. The music shifted seamlessly into a slower song I recognized as, Perfect. The blonde female singer, who had joined the band for a few duets, picked up an acoustic guitar and began to play along with the extended intro. Locke shifted me in his arms and I leaned my cheek just below his shoulder on his chest and let him move us to the soft way of the gentle rhythm and lyrics. I felt his warm hand on my back and his cheek rest on my head. I was not prepared for him to sing quietly along while his fingers played along with the piano on my back. “I found a love for me. Darling just dive right in and follow my lead. Well I found a girl beautiful and sweet. I never knew you were the someone waiting for me.” It was just for me and in that moment I believed in him, that this was as real for him as it is for me. It’s only fair to assume his exes were as perfect for him as mine were for me. They weren’t and that’s why we’re not with them. He moved me away and with one arm still around me and the other grasping my hand, he swept me away in an elegant step across the cleared area that is the dance floor. Just as he asked, I followed his lead. I couldn’t tear my eyes from those electric blue ones and if it wasn’t for the movement of my chest I wouldn’t believe I was breathing. He picked up singing again just loud enough for me and maybe the closest couples. “Baby, I’m dancing in the dark, with you between my arms. Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favorite song. When I saw you in that dress, looking so beautiful. I don’t deserve this, darling, you look perfect tonight…” If ever there was a moment to be stuck in, this was it. Like a gust of snow on a swirling wind, we moved and the snowflakes around us had backed away. His strong arms and hands held me as we turned and stepped. “Now I know I have met an Angel in person and she looks perfect. I don’t deserve this, you look perfect tonight.” Locke sang the last line and brought me to a standstill as the song tapered to an instrumental end. With a gentle intensity in his eyes that I thought was the trappings of fables and romantic tales, Locke brushed his hand over my jaw to the back of my head and my eyes were closed before his soft breath hit my lips. Every romantic cliché that ever was, saturated me completely. Not a speck of me was able to function on a human level. If I wasn’t in love with him before, I am now. I’m completely and utterly putty in his hands. When we parted and I opened my eyes, he chuckled softly. We were being watched. Not just by a few people, but by everyone. Every pair of eyes were on us. The woman with the band playfully smacked the lead singer on the arm and walked away from the band as they started into a more upbeat Bruno Mars song. I think I walked off the dance floor; my brain was not registering the leg movement. Haddy lowered the hand that had been covering her mouth and regained her composure as we approached. The Blonde singer joined Haddy and the author named Margo Mars who had no emotion on her face whatsoever and the sultry blonde singer looked ready to cry.
