review 1: This book is amazing. Not just the characters, but also their feeling and motivations, and I loved Lev Ac Rosen's writing style and the way he talked about the different themes that made this story one of my favorites. And one of my favorite characters is the protagonist, Violet Adams. She is so brave and determined to become a scientist, and all she goes through just really inspires me to follow my dreams no matter what happens. And the whole romance that happens between her and Ernest is so well written and I fell in love with both of those characters more and more as the book went on. Other romance that really called my attention, but unfortunately we don't see much of it in the book is the whole situation between Ashton, Violet's twin brother, and Anthony. They are so c... moreute together and I wish I had seen more of them. Also, one of my favorite characters is Miriam, in her continuous quest to become free and independent. Her motivations, the way she feels and her background story for me are one of the trademarks of this book and one of the many things that made me fall in love with this story. And, of course, I couldn't forget about Volio, the main villain of the story. Even thought he was a total manipulative jerk, I felt really sorry for him! He truly loved Cecily and wasn't corresponded, but I also think he deserved the end he got for all the bad he did, not only to the students, but also the staff of Illyria. I highly recommend this book and I hope whoever reads it likes it as much as I did!
review 2: I received this book through the Goodreads First Book giveaway.I want more!Only two things are required for me to give a book 5 stars, and this book did both. 1. It must make me never want to put it down. 2. It has to leave me thinking about it and wanting more even after I finish. The characters were perfect. The story was interesting, romantic and exciting. The writing though, that was what truly won me over. The writing was just beautiful. Rosen has a magical way with words and a poetic style that is perfect for the genre in which he writes. less

great job, almost as good as soulless. Witty, clever, amusing, with a nice steampunk world.
