review 1: Great book on the economics of the 1914-1940 era. Ahamed masterfully zeroes in on the lives, both personal and professional, of four men who shaped economic policy in the interwar period and took the world economy over a cliff. Even though the subject is sometimes very dry, for example when it concerns the German reparations or the central banks' gold bullion reserves, Ahamed succeeds in making the book an enjoyable read. Very much recommended.
