The MacKenzie Family
review 1: Source: PurchaseMy Rating: 5/5 starsMy Review: Dane MacKenzie has been gone from his home for ten long years. He has travelled the world established himself as a preeminent writer willing to go where he must or needs to in order to get the story. Even after all he has been through and all he has seen, Dane’s greatest fear is setting foot in his hometown of Surrender, Montana. When he left ten years ago, Dane didn’t just leave his family he also left the only woman he has ever truly loved, Charlotte Munroe. Charlotte Munroe never thought she would need to return to Surrender, Montana but when her father passed away someone had to come home and look after his ranch. Her one and only love, Dane MacKenzie has been gone for years so Charlotte feels certain her secret w... moreill remain safe. During the day, Charlotte works in her automotive garage and by night, she cares for her secret, her son. Though neither Dane nor Charlotte ever thought there was a future for them everything changes the night Dane returns to Surrender. Holy crap is it a homecoming to remember. Even though the two haven’t see one another in ten years, the chemistry is still strong and thank the Lord, so is the desk in Charlotte’s office  The reunion is explosive and intense and Dane is ready to commit to a future with the woman he still loves. Charlotte is all kinds of glad to have gotten laid but a future with Dane is dangerous. He left once and he could leave again at any time and this time, Charlotte has more than just herself to think about. The Bottom Line: This is a fantastic second chance at love story with two hot characters and some even hotter sex. Dane is such a softie (except for his body which is all kinds of hard!) and though he was a right sh*t for leaving Charlotte and Surrender the first time around, his reasons were valid and he thoroughly explains everything to her. Charlotte is tough, resilient and willing to give Dane another chance as long as he stays true to his word and doesn’t hurt her son. For two souls as perfect for one another as Dane and Charlotte are, the past can be overlooked and a happy future looked forward too. Finally, Dane is also a very good introduction to the MacKenzie clan as a whole and was more than enough to hook me on the series.
review 2: Again an exceptionally good read but I wish the reunion between the two lovers was a little more drawn out. Dane left town ten years ago and he never really looked back on the girl he loved. Charlotte was abandoned by Dane at a young age and vulnerable stage. She also found out she was pregnant after he had gone. Living in a small town isn't easy and everyone knows each other's business. So she left right after him to raise her baby on her own. Now she's back to finish up some business with her father's ranch and actually thinking of staying... until Dane shows up again. For Charlotte, Dane's the only man she has ever loved or been with but the same isn't true vise versa. He always loved her but he needed to grovel a bit more. less

So much potential it's crazy. A little time and attention and this could be a great read.

Short with little suspense or surprises. I feel almost guilty counting it as a book.

Well written if short. More short story than novel. No plot.
Des
Short, quickly pick up where they left off.
