review 1: A dirty shame was just as entertaining as the first instalment in the series, Dirty Little Secrets. I’m still surprised to be enjoying this series as I downloaded the first book as a freebie and wasn’t really expecting to like it.The books are far from perfect but they are fun to read and I really like J.J.’s character. She is stronger now that she was in the first instalment and it’s nice to see her character evolve. After reading Dirty Little Secrets it was quite obvious that she and Jack would end up together but they make a great team together. There is definitely more romance going on in this instalment but it’s never cheesy and the constant banter & fun dialogues between Jaye and Jack make it less overwhelming. The romance also helps lighten up some of the ... moremore gruesome aspects of the murder investigation.The mystery about J.J. and her parents keep building up as corpses keep piling up in Bloody Mary. The plot is well-built and fast-paced, with some very nice twists that never fail to take the reader by surprise.A very enjoyable, entertaining read. Can’t wait to read the next instalment!
review 2: Very good continuation of the story of Jaye and Jack. It's not the typical romance, which makes it interesting. Who doesn't want an alpha male to declare his feelings and fight for the girl?The murder side was a little more intricate than the last one, but I was disappointed that a lot of it was all explained in the last chapter instead of being revealed in the story. Felt like reading an epilogue; disppointing because you get invested in the murder story just as mch as the personal story. less
