review 1: Emily and Einstein was a very entertaining book. For dog lovers, this book is a must read. A young man is involved in a vehicle accident while on his way to ask his wife for a divorce. The man is given a chance to redeem his shortcomings by coming back as a dog. The wife, who was not aware that there were any problems with the marriage, adopts the stray dog. The humor is through the dog's thoughts and actions in trying to make amends for his human personality when he was 'alive'. While reading this book, take a moment to look closely into your pet's eyes. How much do dogs really understand?
review 2: I started out not liking the book. It struck me as a Disney movie- in fact I started to think "Didn't I see a movie like this once?"I kept reading however,
... more because it was a book club read, and I am glad I did.The story is much deeper than the idea of a man in a dog's body. The book really delves into relationships- with our sisters, our mothers, and the men in our lives. It took e longer to read than it should have because my life was EXTREMELY busy. While I didn't find myself compelled to keep reading, or struggling to put it down at night, I did look forward to getting back to it each day. This goes way beyond a light summer read, and really provides food for thought and reflection. less

I enjoyed the overall idea of self-discovery, though the end was long and drawn out.
