review 1: Food, family, and love sound like good ingredients (ha) for a cold, snowy Saturday read. Indeed. I was able to finish the book in one day; the sisters and the new family are interesting and the food sounded delicious. We are told in the story that the main character, Portia, (her mother was a fan of Shakespeare) analyzes people, places, and decisions based on her food premonitions. The love stories go just far enough, leaving plenty to the imagination. Three stars? I had to reread the dialogue at times to be clear on who was speaking and remind myself of who each character was. And, what happens with James? Still, The Glass Kitchen is an entertaining family love story that made me crave strawberry pie.
review 2: Just another torn blouse novel where the
... moremale lead (can't call him a hero) is controlling but darkly handsome and the female lead can't control her lusty thoughts around him. Really. What an unhealthy relationship that leads to abusiveness. Shame on you Linda Francis Lee for encouraging this stereotype. Fortunately he is secretly a sensitive soul who cherishes her feistiness and would never ill treat her. Please. Something new and interesting?Outside of this criticism, this was a trite book. Once the characters were introduced, we all know who does what. Nothing new. Not worth the time. Not sure what our book club will discuss regarding this book. less

Very good, engaging story, but a little too much sex and random, unnecessary vulgar language.
