review 1: This is the conclusion to Sabine's journey to accepting her psychic powers. It is hard to believe that all of the turmoil that happened over the last 6 books had occurred within less than six months. Things I enjoyed: The continued fast pace of Singleton's writing without feeling rushed. Wrapping up of almost all the lose ends.Things that I missed/didn't enjoy so much:The extra mystery that Thorn and Penny-Love seek out.The rivalry between Sabine and Evan being unsettled.Overall there were strengths and weaknesses provided in the story. Characters faded in and out of this book and didn't really help drive the story forward. The relationships built through the series though stood out and proved that Sabine is well loved and will have many happy times in her fut... moreure.
review 2: I loved this series from the beginning, and with each book it just got better and better. And sadly, this is the end of Sabine, Dominic, Thorn, Manny, and all the other character's I've grown to love. Sabine's life seems to be going perfect. She has a great boyfriend, loyal friends, and ghosts and spirits aren't bothering her anymore. But then life goes down again when her ex-boyfriend, Josh, is missing. Even though she shouldn't really care what's going on with his personal life, Sabine still cares for him as a friend and feels she owes it to him to rescue him from whatever trouble (that is, if he is in trouble) he's in and get him back home. Also, so his dog Horse will be happy and eat again. Which, is also the only reason why Dominic decides to help. Things turn out to be much more dangerous than what Sabine expected as she finds out her sister is involved, and her own life may be at risk. She's pulled into the deep, dark world of magicians, where they may not be as harmless as they actually seem. Plus, they hate psychics. Just like her. These aren't the only issues. Along with Sabine's, Thorn and Penny Love seem to be dealing with a murder of their own. And Dominic is being hunted down by an official, possibly for the murder of his own uncle six years ago.Twisting and turning with mystery, adventure, and the dark elements, you just can't put this one down! I love Singleton's writing. She just captures the teen personality so well. Sabine is a great female character. She's smart, friendly, funny (especially with Manny, he's great too), and very brave and loyal. Thorn remains my favorite character of all time. I'm so excited that she's getting her own series soon! She'll make a great main character. And, of course, there's Dominic. Every time he talks to Sabine, it just sends shivers down my spine. He's usually a man of few words, but when he's talking to Sabine, he's open about his love to her. It's so sweet. Linda Joy Singleton is truly a skillful YA series writer. The stories themselves are pretty short, so you could probably finish one in a couple of hours. If you haven't yet, start this series now! less
