review 1: This book was better than the first in the series! I enjoyed the story. I'm still not a fan of the pentacostal theology but...at least in this book Jesus' substitutionary life and death is explained, which is more than most Christian fiction. I also appreciate the different and unique time period, though like the first book, I think some of the history is sort of muddled or randomly thrown in. Also, some of the names are too similar. I almost never have trouble keeping track of characters but the secondary characters here had too many Ae- or Ea- names.
review 2: This is the second in a series called the Brides of Alba, set in dark ages Scotland. Caden O'Byrne, exiled Scottish prince is wounded as a mercenary in battle. He is healed by a noblewoman who sends
... more him to find her lost daughter, who was taken by Saxons years before. He eventually finds the daughter, Sorcha a lively bard singing in a tavern, and taking part in thievery. She is also engaged to marry a Saxon thane. This is a sequel, so it is probably best to read the first called Healer. Otherwise, you may not get some of the story. Overall, not my absolute favorite of Linda Windsor, but still an enjoyable read. less
