review 1: I really wanted to like this story, but there was just way too much going on for anything to really stick. I really wanted to put it down without finishing but my need to see how everything was solved (fairly neatly, natch) overcame my desire to quit. The surfer lingo sounded so forced and stilted and Grace was a spineless, self-centered brat. And I hate to be nitpicky but riptides really didn't come up at all in the story, and certainly not enough to be the title.
review 2: I was fortunate enough to receive this as an advanced readers copy from Netgalley but unfortunately I cannot bring myself to finish it. I'm sorry, but this book is pretty bad. Maybe it is because I'm from the East Coast and don't get the California way or life or maybe it is because the wri... moreting is just that bad. I feel bad for saying that because I do am an awful writer but that is why I won't write anything but these reviews. I apologize to the author but this book just really isn't for me. It has gotten to the point where I've put this book done to read and finish a 400 page book and was more interested in that than this. I was going to try to force myself to finish it but I really don't like reading e-books that much and it has gotten to the point where I am losing my lead on my goodreads book goal. With that said, maybe I will attempt this book at a later date in book format but I highly doubt it. Sorry! less
