review 1: Lisa Hilton's Queens Consort: England's Medieval Queens was a delightful read for anyone, who loves English history. Lisa Hilton punctuates the known stories of Medieval royalty with lesser known intrigues, complete with unexpected twists and turns, and presented from a decidely female perspective. Well done! Queens Consort: England's Medieval Queens keeps the reader leaping through Medieval history as though it were contemporary filmed drama.
review 2: Very dense reading, like reading an encyclopedia? I don't think anyone would pick this book without a serious interest in the topic, it's definitely not for the faint of heart. It still had its moments. Not all queens were interesting, and some there was just not enough information to justify a whole sectio
... moren dedicated to them (ei Isabella of France and Anne Neville) tho that's not the author's fault. Still I found some queens I would definitely like to pick up another book about them (ei Matilda of Boulonge, Philippa, I DEFINETLY want to read more about Isabella and Mortimer). As it's often the case with history books it was sometimes hard to keep track of all the Matildas, Marys and the author doesn't help by switching from IsabellE to IsabellA for no reason. On a very shallow note, I know it's not possible for all of the queens in this book but I honestly expected at least one or two portraits instead of me having to wiki them. Is this only for the ebook version or is this the case too for the print version? less
