review 1: Things I Learned Reading "The Path to Freedom"1. The path to freedom is paved with hot people. We should all feel safe and secure because they are protecting our freedom by virtue of their hotness.2. Losing extreme amounts of weight makes you hot. It also cures you of any and all self esteem issues you may have had prior to achieving your hotness.3. Hot people want for nothing. They don't have to engage in the social niceties that non-hot people must endure. They don't have to wait in lines or pay their own way. The world owes them things because they grace the world with their sexiness. 4. Hot people can smoke cigarettes and drink copious amounts of tequila and still maintain their hotness. They are so lucky!5. Sleeping with a terrorist can be fun if the terr... moreorist is hot and you haven't been laid in a while.6. Las Vegas loves hot people! If you're hot, you can call the front desk and ask for a dress to be delivered. They will sense your hotness over the phone and deliver a Versace dress! 7. Men will give you money as long as you let them orbit within the sphere of your hotness. Let's refer to that as your Hotmosphere.8. No amount of money on earth could entice me to read the other installments in this series.
review 2: I have a small internet relationship with Lisa Pietsch and was delighted to review her first novel. The heroine, Sarah, is a tough, but overweight marine who ends up at a bootcamp for fatties with potential. She's transformed into a sexy, incredibly fit beauty and ends up on a team of highly skilled hunks who together fight terrorism. The element of gray was fascinating as it presented ethical dilemmas like are you willing to do something wrong (seduce and sleep with a terrorist) to work for a greater good (like putting that terrorist out of business). Sarah accepted the challenge and excelled in it.The author knows a lot about the military and terrorism and was able to weave a mostly believable tale. There were a couple of exceptions. I found the VIP status that Sarah received in Las Vegas to be a bit over the top. I'm not sure I believe that sexy beauties are given that kind of preferential treatment. I think that was a bit exagerrated. Also I thought the team was a little too good looking. I don't think I've ever known of any team of any kind where every single one was a hottie. That was a bit unbelievable too."Liquid courage" (martini) and "voice like a warm breeze" are two examples of Lisa's ability to paint scenes. She painted the steamy scenes exceptionally well, especially when Sarah showed Vince her seduction prowess. That was a great scene. I found some of the italicized thoughts of Sarah's to be cumbersome and unrealistic. "Note to self, one of these days I'll clean that bitch's clock." The book could stand fewer of those monologues.I enjoyed the book. I think Lisa plans to make a Sarah Stevens series and I'll enjoy reading more. It will be fascinating to see terrorism up close through this team of freedom fighters. less
