review 1: I liked this book about the same as Bewitched & Betrayed, but it's missing something that I enjoyed immensely in the first 3 books. I was more prepared for this shift while reading Con & Conjure though (in contrast to how I felt after Bewitched & Betrayed), and so I was able to enjoy the book more. I think the only reason I like these two books less is only that the excitement and newness has worn off a tad bit. I liked the love triangle. I liked the mystery of new places. I liked learning more things about the world. I still plan on finishing out this series and I will be sad to finish it. I've enjoyed spending some time in Raine's world and I might just have to come back to these books later in life for some re-reads. Overall Con & Conjure is a great book with tons of la... moreugh. Not my favorite in the series but definitely don't skip it. *OH and you finally get to see what happens when something happens. I don't want to give away any spoilers, so I'll leave it at that. :)
review 2: Raine Benares is still trying to unbind the soul-sucking Saghred from her physically. She is on the Goblins' hit list and the Council of Wizards is trying to prove she wants to wield the power of the Sahgred for evil. The Elven power-brokers think if they control her; they can control the Saghred. Raine isn't going to go along with anyone else's agenda. The big guns have come out -- a goblin mage and an elven assassin are trying to kill her, too. Total annihilation will be inevitable is anything goes wrong. Raine, her lover, the Paladin Mychael Eiliesor and various Benares' relatives decide to take the war directly to the goblins and set sail for their capitol. To be continued.... less
