review 1: I was hesitant to start this book after Mr. Tackitt said this was a combination survival manual/ novel. A solar storm creates an EMP that wipes out all of the normal everyday electronics, communications, travel, and infrastructure. Some people are prepared (survivalists) but most are not (95%). I enjoyed reading the technical ins and outs of what was needed to survive. The people in the story were what made this book come alive. 'Stuff' happens fast at times making events seem rushed and often times ridiculous, but the story moved so fast, I just kept reading and reading. There are 4 or 5 books in this series and I plan on reading them at later date. I did enjoy reading this book-- I recommend it to anyone who just loves a good read.
review 2: Loved this book
... more from the introduction, prologue and all the way through till the end. Some of the real life scenarios were so intense I had to set the kindle down for a min to gain composure to carry on with the story.I'm excited to read the other books in his series.I started reading this because I'm intrigued by survivalist/preppers, but I loved the characters and story that was used to highlight the real life skills. less

writing was so bad, author should never apologize before he starts. Otherwise enjoyed the premise.
