review 1: Ugh. I hated this book. Hated the style, hated the language, hated the characters, hated the plot. Didn't even read the last 60 pages, and it's highly unusual for me not to finish a book, even when I hate it. It was due back at the library and the choices were a 10 cent fine or renew it and have this poorly composed novel take up space in my house for another two weeks. I hated this book so much that neither was an option...
review 2: When I got this novel for my birthday, I honestly couldn't remember a thing about it, let alone expressing enough interest to have someone notice my interest and purchase it for me a few weeks later. Semi-bad jokes aside, this novel about the aged had some memorable lines, but isn't nearly as thoughtful or moving an exploration o... moref what happens as we get old as Starting Out in the Evening, which is a book I not only remember but remember loving. less
