review 1: I was strangely disappointed by Louise Bagshawe's book, Passion. As a fan of her more recent work I thought I'd go further back and read one of her earlier works, but it didn't live up to my expectations. I don't know if I've just become a better writer and can pin point other author's mistakes more easily, or whether the book itself just wasn't that good, but it struggled to hold my attention and while I did finish it, I put it down a few times mid-read - always a negative sign for me. I usually read from cover to cover if I'm into a book, only putting it down to sleep, eat and of course, work. The hero seemed a bit too good to be true. He lacked those flaws that make heroic male characters realistic. I couldn't relate to him, although I could drool over him! Too fit, too ... morebuilt, too reliable, too dependable, too perfect. The heroine was better developed having issues of her own, and being less than perfect. Flabby, out of shape, reclusive, too academic, having lost her vitality, she worked on herself during the novel to change her physical appearence and fitness ability. A bit too quickly in my opinion, but never the less, fairly well executed.Nice read but too predictable and not realistic at all. Sorry Louise.
review 2: This story was truly breathtaking in more ways than one. You find yourself instantly hooked and linked with the characters feeling their love, sorrow and heartache then throw in a hit man and running for your life... wow your are in for a ride of your life!It is a gripping, fast pace and a page turner. I'm not going to give you any spoilers you are just going to have to read it, but be warned you are in for journey of a life time. Well worth the read, would defiantly go on to my read again pile. less
