review 1: I have enjoyed Lousie Candlish books in the past and was looking forward to this. But it is was so obvious from the tag line on the front cover what Kate and her daughter Roxy were sharing. (Bad editorial mistake by the publisher). I liked Kate though it was certainly a case of heart over head in falling for Davis. The scenes between mother and teenage daughter were very believable, though I found her protective attitiude to her young son a bit overdone. The denouement was no longer a surprise. I found the chase abroad very long drsawn out and for me the book ended on a wimper. I was pleased for Kate that she was reunited with her daughter but Davis remained a shadowy character.
review 2: Shockingly bad. I started reading this book last week and a
... morefter 100 or so pages I gave up. I'm not one to stop reading a book halfway through - regardless of how bad it is - but despite trying my best to persevere I just couldn't bring myself to finish it. Her characters are flat with not one of them being likeable and her writing style is slow. After reading two of her previous novels and quite enjoying them I have to say it was more than disappointed. less
