review 1: I bought this book because the back cover really enticed me. I was imagining a fun, imaginative vamp like Mary Janice Davidson's. Unfortunately, I could only make it to page 52 before I knew I couldn't finish it. Gina is supposed to be the heroine of the story, but I disliked her from the start. She wakes up as a vampire and starts worrying about her clothes and hair. And she wants to change (kill) her hairstylist out of her selfish need to look good. In addition, the cutesy nicknames Gina had for everyone (Chickzilla, Thing Two, and Sparky to name a few) were really annoying. I know it was supposed to help us be able to identify the people, but I know a lot of teenagers, and none of them use these "Clueless" type monikers. And my last gripe before I put the book down were... more the number of characters. There were too many in the first 52 pages, and I found myself getting lost. I'd put the book down and come back to it only to have to back up and read a few pages before I could understand what was happening again. Reading shouldn't be this hard.
review 2: Vamped is a cheeky take on a world where vampires are real and the top candidate for a vampire army is teenagers in a small town. It is a first person narrative told from the perspective of a feisty teen girl. A fashionista who has just as much pride as she does style. It is funny reading a book where girl world and vamp land collide to be a weird mean girls vampire story that is refreshing in an awful kind of way. The concpet is fun but it doesn't seem to spike as hard during the climax and I had hoped. I think it is because there is not very much depth to the main character, which makes it hard to root for her in the end. However I still find myself wanting to read the sequel "Revamped" but if the story line is just as uninventive as the title then i will probably be punching myself the whole way for spending money on crap ... less

I'm not into vampires and that kind of stuff, so I guess I'll just hang back...
