review 1: From the first few pages of this book I assumed the author had attended Creative Writing classes as everthing was too descriptive. So the book starts with Jennifer coming home to find her boyfriend leaving her. He doesn't give much of a reason other than he could do better than her and she doesn't really fight to make him stay but does follow him out to the lift in their apartment building where she notices another guy. We are given no background on her relationship with the boyfriend so it made little impact.Jennifer has a new job. She seems to get over the loss of her boyfriend immediately and start lusting after the guy from the lift. Turns out he is a singer in a band and a bit of a manwhore seeing as he has a different girl everytime she sees him. Jennifer's boss is a... more letch. I found this aspect of the storyline far fetched. Also thrown into the story is Jennifer's Dad having early signs of Alzheimers and needing expensive medication. What follows was just laughable especially as after getting together with Drake (the guy from the lift) they decide on a decision that made no sense whatsoever. The rest of the story reads as if they had a great love affair and were together for ages when in reality they had only spent one night together. When all is resolved, it made me wonder why they couldn't have made that decision the first time around rather than the one they did make! There is just far too much internal thoughts of Jennifer's and hardly any dialogue. In fact there is probably more dialogue between Jennifer and other characters in the book than between her and Drake. I didn't really like Jennifer. I haven't really got an opinion on Drake as he had far too little dialogue for me to get to know him. I felt no connection between her and Drake so was not convinced of their love.I know this book is free but it really is dire!
review 2: This was a slight change from the other Rock Star books I've read recently in that Drake wasn't a star, he was on his way to being one. Granted he was already a Rock star tramp, with the usual cortège of blonde bunnies, and he was good looking. Jen comes home unexpectedly on her first day of work to find her whole life changes unexpectedly, she then finds she has the boss from hell, who is beyond creepy and desperately deserving of a sexual harassment suit (just reading about Bud's character had me cringing), and can't leave because she can't afford to lose her job.Enter the gorgeous Drake, with whom she becomes obsessed, a bit too obsessed so early on in my opinion, and she comes across as slightly stalkerish to me. Naturally the course of true love never runs smoothly, and this case is no exception. I liked Drake but wasn't sure about Jen, but perhaps that's more to do with my not liking the decisions she was making, she wasn't an unpleasant character by any means, I just disagreed with her actions most of the time. The scenes with Bud, as unpleasant as they were, were probably the best bits of the book for me.This was a pleasant enough read, just not in the same league as some of the other Rock Star books I've read. less

This book was free on Amazon and I thought I would give it a try. Nothing in the book worked for me.
