review 1: The reason I gave this short 4 stars is because after I finished it, my immediate thought was "huh - I need to know more about these guys." It really captured my interest in a very short number of pages. I still honestly don't really have any idea what's going on, and the relationships are unclear as to how they developed, where they stand, and where they're going, but after all is said and done, I really wanted to know what the hell happens next. So for piquing my interest in a handful of pages - 4 stars.
review 2: I was disappointed mostly because I hadn't read this author before and her bio mentions "things that go bump in the night" and horror, so for a freebie Halloween promo, I was hoping to be frightened. This was not horror, nor was it Halloween them... moreed.As for the story itself, I didn't quite follow it. I think I know what was going on, but I'm not certain. I could reread it this morning -- awake -- but I think I'd rather see if Ms. Nyx has some horror to satisfy that reading need. less
