review 1: Reviewed by Glendalys:I would give this book 3 stars!!This is the third book in the Whitman University series. It can be read as a stand alone. I loved the other two books in the series. I fell in love with the characteres right off the bat. And I also fell in love with Toby and Kennedy. Kennedy is a party girl with a lot of problems including addiction. Toby is a boy who has dealt with people with addictions in his past. I liked the story because he truely loved her and wanted to help her. Toby realized due to his past with addiction that he could want to help save her all he wanted but if she didnt want it herself it was a lost cause. He loved her enough to understand that some people have to hit rock bottom and have to learn to dig themselves out of the hole. I... moret wasnt a happy story but it seemed very realistic. Love isnt roses, sunshines and rainbows. I liked that they included characters from the other books in the series. The only reason I gave it 3 stars was because if you read the book you understand Kennedy's probelms but they arent laid out clearly and neither is her recovery. The book would have been better with a little more information about her past and her recovery. I would recommend this book to my friends.
review 2: This book is pretty heartbreaking, and also warm fuzzies, and just really well done -- I particularly appreciated the glimpses from Kennedy's point of view without immersing us in her headspace. The story is primarily (90%? or more?) told from Toby's point of view, and I think it was a really great choice to approach it from that perspective.I did not connect personally as much with Kennedy and Toby -- which is not a reflection on the writing at all, or their realism as characters, only with my personal tastes and preferences and experiences -- so for me it was a 4 star, but I can easily see this as a 5 star for others! less
