review 1: Alexius seeks to do a favor for his godfather – find out if the long lost not acknowledged granddaughter is a “good” person or a gold digger in disguise. If she turns out to be above board grandfather will acknowledge her. If she is a worm looking for a way in and easy hand-outs – forget it! He has enough hands clamoring for his money!!So Alexius goes off to investigate the little – literally she is petite - office cleaner. Alexius finds himself attracted to little Rosie – you knew he would be, but he practices his deception, appears to get what he wants, and then walks away! Note there is an odd I’m-ill-don’t-know-why moment that sits up….I think you know what later. Obviously VERY potent stuff too! Also a bit of drama tossed in to spice things up ... moreand it wouldn’t be complete w/out an - I will only save ‘him’ if you do what I want blackmail!Rosie did fight him on things when she discovers his deceit. She seemed quite capable of taking care of herself even w/ Alexius, and I liked that she stood up for herself somewhat. There were even a few LOL moments to be had in this tale. One of which was his question of so I’m good enough to sleep w/ but not good enough to marry – isn’t that how these Hs treat their hs?? The poor misguided fool, Alexius, even issues her an ultimatum but she doesn’t collapse for him. I even wondered if Rosie was a bit like her dog – all growling and snapping, but he got the dog and her in the end. LOL!!
review 2: Rosie’s grandfather played matchmaker when he asked Alex to meet his granddaughter and get to know her for him. The chemistry between Rosie, and Alex was Hot. I did enjoy this book. I think the two cared for one another, but I didn’t feel the connection of love between the two. The life between Rosie, and Alex was worlds apart. I did like the fact that Rosie always spoke her mind, and was not a door mat. Rosie was not the type of person that was impressed by wealth. Alex was used to be waited on. I did find it amusing that he didn’t know how to order from a self-serve restaurant. Sample from chapter 2“This is a private conversation” “Not when your manhandling a woman,” Alexius interrupted in a tone of undisguised condemnation. Rigid with raging tension, Jason swore and took a violent swing at Alexius. A gasp of dismay escaped Rosie but, faster than she would have believed possible, Alexius ducked the incoming fist and punched Jason squarely in the solar plexus. Winded, Jason reeled back a step in shock at the hit and thrust Rosie away from him with a brutal shove so that he could more easily move in to attack again. As Rosie lost her footing and went flying across the pavement with bruising force a cry of pain was wrenched from her lips. Almost simultaneously, she heard a shout, Jason’s roar of fury and finally the sound of running feet. In the space of a minute, Alex Kolovos was bending over her and raising her up. “Don’t try to move,” He urged, already noting the blood that had seeped through the legs of her cotton uniform trousers on which she had gone skidding across the pavement. “Something might be broken.” “Don’t think, it just hurts,” Rosie was suddenly painfully conscious of the ache of bruises and the sting of the abrasions inflicted on her legs and arms. She grimaced, feeling ridiculously like a child who had fallen down, reckoning that the skinned knees and elbows she could feel had borne the blunt of the damage. He was talking urgently in Greek into a mobile phone and her brow furrowed in discomfiture until he switched back to English. “I’m taking you to a doctor.” less
