review 1: Christakis's Rebellious Wife is a second chance at love HP. I wanted to love it cause I'm a Lynne Graham fan sadly it didn't engage my attention until much later in the book. In fact I almost didn't finish it.So here's what worked- the Hero. Typical LG hero. Wealthy alpha and crappy at romance with the heroine. The heroine. She was the typical LG heroine. Nice, working poor, has dyslexia, loves dogs and is still a virgin. The angst. The resolution...the hero and heroine talked things out and bonus a glimpse into the happy future. These tropes worked great.What didn't work- the storytelling. It was a struggle to connect with it. I can usually finish a LG in a day but this book took a week to finish. I also missed more the hero showing he loved the heroine but since his beha... morevior leading up to the seperation didn't involve sleaze I guess he didnt need to show his love like heroes did in previous LG books.This was just an ok read. I've read LG's told better.
review 2: Nik and Betsy are a happily married couple until she finds out his secret, he can't give her the baby she is longing for. Feeling hurt and betrayed she breaks things off. Months later they are getting a divorce but their meeting ends in one night of passion. Betsy is shocked to find out she is pregnant and that walking away from Nik is not as simple. Betsy has no problems showing her emotions, but Nik does. After a crappy childhood he has learned to trust no one. All he knows is that he wants his wife back. I liked the fact they both respected their marriage vows while they were apart and that they both were willing to work towards a reconciliation. This book was angsty, emotional, and lovely. Betsy and Nik are an estranged couple but u can tell they are still madly in love with each other even though they have serious trust and communication problems. Very emotional romance!Can't wait to read Zarif's and Ella's story! less
