review 1: When I first heard about this book, it was described as a collection of weird short stories. I have to agree that the short stories in this book are different. They are not the typical short stories that I would normally read, yet there is something about them that drew me in and made me want to read all of the stories. It's an eclectic mix of stories about people with various backgrounds and their experiences. I felt like some of the stories didn't really have an end, but also that the author did that on purpose.
review 2: All of these stories feature Filipinos and most take place primarily in the United States, the two exceptions being a story bout Culion, a former leper colony, and "Help", a story of one family's reaction to the Beatle's snubbing of Imel
... moreda Marcos. Many of the stories deal with the alienation of being a Filipino in the United States, a group that most of us don't think about that often. His characters range from charlatans to misfits to ordinary folks trying to fit in. I found this to be a delightful book and look forward to more by Tenorio. less

So far, I find this book tedious and shallow.
