review 1: "Drain You" was a pleasant reading experience from start to finish. There is a calculation and substance to the book that I find fascinating. Future entries into the Teen Paranormal genre should take notice of this title. I appreciated the insertion of cultural milestones into the narrative that presently are experiencing new commentary as decades and anniversaries pass. Nods to important female empowerment tools like Sassy Magazine, Riot Grrl, and DIY aesthetics that hopefully will translate into the re-emergence of a powerful young creative class. I appreciated the sensible and more reality based approach to the subject of Vampirism in the novel. I never at any time felt like I was reading something that was filled with well worn cliches on the genre at all. I'm look... moreing forward to more titles from M. Beth Bloom in the future.
review 2: This book was a quick read. I enjoyed the throw backs to the 80's and 90's but at the same time it made me feel like the story was written in the 90's. I don't think that teenagers talk the way the characters did in the book. I also found the story to be a lot like twilight, girl meets boy, girl instantly falls in love, boy leaves girl, boy comes back and wants to save girl. The ending was a little abrupt and very open, which leaves me wondering if there will be a second book. less

I liked the story, but .... I wasn't too keen on the characters. Very conflicted with this one.

At some parts, the plot feels a little slow.
