review 1: Let me start out by saying that I am not a fan of torture, rape, abuse, non-con. At.All. I skimmed quite a bit of the sections depicting the abuse, and even then struggled to continue and get through to the promised second part. I did it. Damn proud of myself for making it. If the story had not been so well written (outside of a few very minor editing errors) and the MC so compelling, I never would have finished. Totally worth it. I finished all that is written so far (it is a WIP) and will check back for more.
review 2: I'm not even sure what to say about this but I feel like I should say something. You can't read a book like this and not come away unscathed. I'm at least happy to see that people seem to be heeding the warnings and there aren't a lot o... moref 1 & 2 star reviews because the reviewer didn't realize that this was something other than what it is. A horrifying tale of the kidnap and daily rape/torture of a 20 year old boy for 5 months. Part one deals entirely with his ordeal from capture to... I won't give away how part one ends but I think everyone who reads this will be begging right along with Brennan for the suffering to come to an end. Part 2 is still a WIP but you'll have to start reading it immediately because you have to know. You have to know that something is finally going to go right for this poor boy. I'm ready for the healing to begin and I know it's going to be a long, arduous journey for both the character and the reader but it's a journey I will willingly and breathlessly take. I hope Maddox writes fast. less
