review 1: I really enjoyed this book, even though I was very cautious going into it, as not many books can have a protagonist made of "mud and cellulite" that they actually treat well, and not merely as an endless well of fat jokes. I was pleasantly surprised by not just the tone of this book - treating the main character as someone worth examining, with depth and personality, but with the ending as well. I won't spoil anything by saying that this is not a book that's interested in "fixing" its overweight character, which is hugely refreshing (no pun intended.) Aside from the way I loved how both Meaghan, and her too-thin counterpart Aimee were portrayed, I also loved the language and prose used to tell their stories. There were many artful poetic comparisons that floated off the pa... morege and into my mind, where they lingered. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys YA, has struggled with bullies, food issues, or not knowing when to use their voice.
review 2: I wanted to pick a book rather than a mystery one I picked this book because this book is more of a realistic fiction of a teenagers life. Meghan who has a big figure and Aimee who has a stick figure have been talked, gossiped, and laughed at for their figure so they decide to join forces. "Meghan feels the bottom of her stomach drop out -- a guilty lurch, like she's just been caught breaking a rule." I like this quote because it's like having that scared feeling when you heard something and your heart stopped. The authors writing style was in a teenagers point of view, which is really understanding. This book is written in second person. Yes, I would recommend this book to students who are into drama books, because if whoever reads it in the end can relate to it. less
