review 1: The concept of this book is great! I liked that the author shifted between Jesse's and Emily's perspective though I wished George had talked a little more about Esther since George had chapters from Esther's perspective. StarMart campaign didn't go according to how I thought the book would go. There isn't a happy ending which is fine but there's a lack of closure too. I wanted to know what happens after the parties? Also the last fourth of the book feels rushed which didn't work for me after all of the work of the other 3/4 of the book. I liked Jesse, she is super idealistic but way more social justice oriented than I was at 15 years old. I didn't like Emily but I think that her character is set up to be disliked. I did think that I understood her perspective. I thought it... more was a selfish self centered one but I thought that I got the jist of her thought process about things. What I didn't get is why Jesse and Emily ever got together. It felt like they didn't even like each other's personalities at all. Of course I liked all of the parents except for Esther's father. I think the parents really gave Emily and Jesse the values that their interactions illustrated. I probably rated this book harshly because of the ending but it influenced my overall like/dislike of the book
review 2: Mixed feelings about this one. There were some things I liked a lot (Jesse, the descriptions of the feelings, the ending) and some things I didn't like (Emily, the imbalance of the perspectives, the simplicity of the story). I think I expected too much from this book. It was a quick read, which was nice, but I think it's going to be one of those books I forget about as soon as I return it to the library. less

This book was seriously so bad that I couldn't even make it past the first paragraph. Just bad.

It didn't really tug on my heart, but I enjoyed it fine.
