My Paper Heart
review 1: One big BUT for me. I liked the storyline BUT dang. Almost, but not quite. I did read from Net Galley so I am hoping it's been improved upon (greatly). The version I read had so many editing errors. So. Many. It was distracting. That aside, it's has the stereotypical, cliche city girl meets country boy aspect to it. The character development was good in places but missed in others. I do wish I had a Great Aunt Dee. Unfortunately, one of the misses was the female lead. There were many inconsistencies and/or contradictions with her between her personality, behavior, and back story. Overall there was something about this story that stuck with me. I'm not mad I read it. I just get frustrated when I read something with so much potential to be great and it just doesn't hit the ... moremark.
review 2: My Paper Heart follows the story of Libby. There is nothing worse than being kicked out of college, than having your parents be the one to tell you about it. Her parents decide to ship her off to live with her aunt in Louisiana, to hopefully give her some perspective on life. She's not at all worried about having to spend her summer in a small. The last thing she expects is to find love in the country......My Paper Heart was a really cute story. Even though Libby frustrated me at times and definitely had some superficial moments, I did like her character, especially towards the end of the story. I thought Magan Vernon handled the insecurities that Libby faced very well. You can't help but root for Libby once she comes to the realization that she's not perfect and she doesn't want to be! I think Blaine was exactly what she needed and couldn't have come into her life at a better time. I loved how Blaine was such a sweet country boy, who had a few insecurities of his own, but was extremely patient where Libby was concerned. My Paper Heart was a quick, but enjoyable read. If you're looking for a cute read that is in the Mature YA/Light NA category, you won't be disappointed.*****I received a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review***** less
