review 1: Endingnya oke, meskipun sempat sebal setengah mampus sama Hokuto. Nggak ngerti deh jalan pikirannya dia... Huhh...Salah satu hal yang bikin bosen sama manga ini adalah karena terlalu fokus pada hubungan kedua tokoh utama, Hokuto dan Chiwa. Tokoh-tokoh pendukung lainnya tuh sekadar lewat doang, cuman jadi pelengkap dan pemanis, supaya mereka nggak jadi cuma berdua aja di muka bumi ini. Sayang banget. Harusnya sih tokoh-tokoh itu dikembangkan karakternya, biar nggak berkesan cuma "biar rame" doang. Padahal tokoh-tokoh itu punya potensi untuk jadi side story yang oke.Apalagi dengan volume sebanyak 10 judul, rasanya lama-lama jadi bosen aja gitu kalo konfliknya gitu-gitu aja. Lagi-lagi kalo baca manga begini, saya jadi membandingkan sama Fruits Basket. Furuba itu tokohnya sega... morembreng-gambreng kan yah, tapi Natsuki Takaya sensei dengan pandai dan jeli meramu ceritanya jadi menarik, sehingga nggak ada tokoh yang saya ngerasanya "nggak perlu". Semua punya keunikan, semua punya ciri khas yang benar-benar menarik, semuanya berkembang sepanjang cerita, dan semuanya bikin saya jatuh cinta sama mereka...Yah, sayang banget manga karya Enjouji sensei ini nggak begitu. Jadi, meskipun saya cukup menikmati ceritanya, saya tetap merasa ada yang kurang, karena saya nggak tahu cerita dan masa lalu tokoh lain di manga ini. Sungguh sangat disayangkan.
review 2: Copypasted review from #9, because of reasons.This series was recommended to me by someone on MangaUpdates, I think, when I asked for "classic" Josei. I read the first few volumes in July 2012, though I still have to add them to my Goodreads shelves, but the only reason I finished the series was because it annoyed me to have "dropped" it when I was almost through. I'll copypaste the following part to all my reviews of this manga, because my main point of critic remains the same: It's annoyingly sexist, to the point where the male MC tells the heroine to shut up or else he rapes her. It was said jokingly, while they were both lying in bed, but seriously, while there are most certainly a lot of words to express what I think of it, I decide to just keep it at.. "It's sexist", because I'm too lazy to turn this one into a rant. My standard for romantic manga is surprisingly low. It's not like I expect women and men to be in any form equals anymore, but there's a line you really shouldn't cross. I don't care if your male character is the #1 sexual harrasser, the point is, don't trivialize it. If he says shit like it, at least have the heroine be genuinely offended and have an open discussion, instead of scandalized in the typical "blush blush oh he said something related to sex blush"-way that is so common in many manga these days, I just want to slap people.Otherwise not bad, in how there are several real conflicts and a relationship that doesn't just magically work because the mangaka wants it to. (As flawed as their working their issues out might be.)No rating. less
