review 1: Heights of Desire. Mara white. Heights of a desire is Mara White debut novel. The book isn't a fluffy, loving romance with a smooth happy ever after. The book is completly messed up. It will leave you completly messed up. Your feel confused, raw emotions will be coming through, it's smart, a thrilling rollercoaster, that leaves you feeling all different emotions, but mostly lost and confused, but not in a bad way. I was gripped from the first page, but I never imagined the book to turn out like it did after readinging the synopsis........it was a million times better. The story was confusing and quite often I wasn't sure if if I wanted to stop reading the book as parts were confusing me. Ever time I put my kindle down though I'd pick it back it wanting to know... more more. For a debut novel this book was so brilliantly wrote. Mara has a incredible talent. The basic outline of the story is....Kate Champion has 2 beautiful children and a fantastic husband whose very successful and adores his wife. They are the perfect family. One day Kate is at the playground where she runs In to a very gorgeous, intense, young man. She feels that drawn in to this man that she would sacrifice all she has see this man again. Jaylee Inoa has "worked hard" to get his reputation in the Heights. A 22 year old, seconds generation New York Dominician who closes ties to the Heights and the gangs that ran them. He's a massive player. But that afternoon when he sees Kate, he's feelings change to things that he's never felt before. This book is the forbidden "romance" book. The story is so messed up. Why would a women whose happily married with kids, risk everything for a complete stranger whose firstly half your age, comitt adultery to her husband who doesn't deserve to be treated like that, plus social and cultural issues. Every page you read your get drawn in to the story but as your getting drawn in, all the book and author does is make you angrier and angrier. Kate to me is a disgusting character. I have no feelings towards her but hate. How could she do all this to her husband, let alone her children. Who treats your kids that way??! Kate would bring having sex with a convicted criminal, but then go straight back home and have sex with her husband and not care at all. I hated her character. The whole story is completly messed up and unpredictable. This book is not predictable in the slightest and you think for a split second you may think you know what's going on, but then you'd read the next page and you what you thought was happening wasn't. This book is unlike anything I've ever read in my life, mite unbelievable unique. There are a lot of unanswered questions. This book needs a discussion group so everyone can talk through it and listen it everyone's opinions as the way it's wrote, everyone who reads this book will have a different opinion or insight in the the book and it would be great to hear other people's thoughts on how they interrupt the story. The author has wrote one hell of a amazing story, unlike anything out there. It was well written, it had questions unanswered but I think that was intentional and it flowed great. I loved this book in a weird love/hate sort of way. A love way because the story was well wrote and it was wrote amazingly. Hate because the stormy is unbelievable messed up. I didn't like the story. It was messed up, but it draws you back in all the time and make you not forget....so I'm not sure if that's love or hate??
review 2: What a wonderful book. I can't believe this is the writers first book. You can feel the emotions of the characters in this book. I am not saying you go WTF more than once in your head while reading this book. Kate is a well educated woman who falls for a bad boy who just happens to be 20 years younger than her. I first you're going to wonder how in the world she could ever cheat on her husband but by the end you're going to wonder how she can even stay with her husband. I love this book so much I missed it in one day. I am so looking forward to the second book in the series. less
