review 1: I was fortunate to receive Margaret Drabble's book from a First Reads giveaway. Brilliantly and intelligently written. I loved the point of view. Very creative. The author presents me with an opportunity to learn about a history that is not my own and I am excited to explore. Quite refreshing to read a book that increases my vocabulary and desire to learn as well as providing a compelling story and characters.
review 2: Margaret Drabble absolutely gets to the heart of what has linked each generation of families over the past forty years, the issues and problems we all face. Even though the story of Anna and Jess moves along without hurry or urgency, I still wanted to keep going back to her lovely characters and their lives. Jess is a really interesting la... moredy and we instantly like and respect her. I loved this book, the prose is at times beautiful and the content always made me think on. less
