review 1: Evren: Enter the Dragonette is one of Marians earlier works. You can't help but love Deli, short for Delilah, who has to choose between death or becoming an Evren. Determined to live she chooses Evren which pretty much means she gets a Dragon soul and can do nifty things now. Except she's kind of a dunce. Ok, she's really really dumb...but she owns it and rolls with it and does it in such a way you don't get annoyed with her (too much) and can laugh at all the things that she does or that come out of her mouth. Anyways, she's rescued by two Evren, one of which is so much like her (only smarter) that they could be twins and the other makes her want to naughty things. Between entering a new school, learning to be Evren, trying to save her sister AND make the seriously uptig... moreht Lucian fall in love with her the poor girl doesn't have a free moment. Lucian probably wasn't my favorite character but his personality was a little grating to me. Overall a very entertaining read.
review 2: I don't understand why the lead girl in books like this always have to be complete idiots! Seriously is it too much to ask for a girl who can stick up for herself and not just be completely lame? So first the book starts out with Deli being changed and then she wakes up and is all what happened? Well you now have a dragon soul. Oh okay that makes sense since I saw some horrible monster and there was fire. What? If I just woke up after some weird stuff happening and someone told me something like I am part dragon now my first thought would not be oh that makes sense. It would be no really what happened? Anytime you needed information it was just given and instantly accepted by Deli which I found to be incredibly unbelievable. Not to mention that she is incredibly stupid - they use some 'big words' sometimes and she doesn't know what they mean even though they are often common words. She just annoyed me so much. Plus she acts like she is 2 all the time...and throws tantrums and is just a mess. Of course there was the instant in love with the guy who is sulky and not really paying that much attention to you. Even when he does kiss you and such he still keeps everything from you and you just go along with it? I wish girls could stick up for themselves! Guy treating you like crap? Don't just be all I m a girl and I love him sooo much so who cares! Annoying. The other main issue I had with this book - they didn't really explain anything! They slipped in at the end how the bad guy prince is in love with the sister. Okay - is that why Deli's family was attacked? I mean nothing is really explained at all and they don't save the sister or do anything really. There was even this big gathering for all the dragon people and something important was happening, but what? Who knows. Deli was being lame and ran out and so we just don't get to know. So there is the hint of stuff happening, but you never get to know what it is as Deli acts like she is 5 all the time. Oh then she is so stupid to go back to where the bad guys would look for her and gets caught, and there is the start of a fight scene with the boys trying to save her, but then she faints and you miss the rest of the fight. Really? That is like turning off the movie in the middle of the big climactic ending and just saying eh that is good enough, no need to actually watch the rest. Who does that? Anyways this book was horrible. I kept reading it to see what was going on and why things had happened, but you never find out. Yey. less
