review 1: I really enjoyed this book which was a romance in a business setting. I think the plot was good and as it gradually developed, we see that Janet Maple, a trusting soul, finds that she is in the middle of a serious fraud. Her childhood girlfriend, Lisa, who got her a job in her company, unknowingly involves Janet in the company's illegal practìces. Janet deals with it all and finds her teammate Dennis, is a protective person who aids her through all her difficult decisions.
review 2: I found this book to be disappointing. Characters were transparent and the outcome obvious. I had difficulty buying the idea that the Harvard educated lawyer in the story was focused solely on the goal of catching a rich husband so that she would never have to work again. Her f
... moreriend, educated at Columbia law school also seems focused on this goal, although at least she seems to want to put some effort into her career. This book is supposedly in the romance genre - I found the presentation of women in the book to be demeaning and shallow, the story not at all romantic but simplistic and transparent with little or no meaningful character development. I will not be reading another book by this author and would not have read this except it was presented on the B&N site as a mystery. less
