review 1: I haven't read a Darkover book in quite a long time. Dorothy Ross does a great job of continuing the series the Kate Marion Zimmer Bradley started. Gareth, a prince if one of the major ruling houses, seeks adventure. When he accompanies a caravan to the Dry Towns he encounters far more than he bargained for. His discoveries force him to find hidden strength and skills that he never would have found at home
review 2: Deborah Ross does a good job of travelling within the world of Darkover, but things just didn't come together for me in this book. There were several subplot elements, which took place outside of the scope of the primary narrative, and while these elements were unquestionably connected to the main thrust of the story in the end, it took a while f... moreor the connections to become clear and felt a little bit forced. less
