review 1: It takes a lot of courage to bare yourself like this. Thank you, Mr. Alders, for giving us this honest recounting of your well-named 'teenage mis-adventures'. In the short span of this story, I laughed until tears ran down my face, and then the tears were in sympathy for those traumatic experiences we all have and wish to forget. I understand about the sunscreen smell situation. I can also relate to his reaction to the reading episode at the start. It's a wonder he made it to adulthood pretty much intact, isn't it?
review 2: On a personal note here:A few words came to mind when i was reading this book... There was one in particular which came up quite frequently... F#@K! I was literally cringing while reading this, thinking "oh god no. He didn't. He couldn'
... moret have.......... F#@K! HE DID!" haha I feel your pain, man... ouch. Now for the review:Wow Mark. Just WOW! How in god's name did you manage to convey something so personal and emotional as your childhood with so much laidback humour?! ... some of the scenarios you describe in here would have had me in the foetal position rocking back and forth like a crazed lunatic (well... an even bigger one)! Since our pasts shape who we become, I think it's a testament to your strength (and your penis' resilience - and pain threshold) and I'm definately looking forward to reading alot more of your work... :D Thanks for sharing, BJ ;) less
