review 1: I love these books! I thought the first one was wonderful and reads like a true story. The second one does the same. I love all of the characters, even the bad ones, and I root for the ones that have no one in their corner. Again I had to keep reminding myself that this wasn't fiction but it such a gritty portrayal of addiction and life on the streets. It isn't pretty and at times will turn your stomach but in this day and age I feel as though everyone should be familiar with the dangerous path addiction can take because it is ugly and it happens fast. I didn't like the ending but the ending is real. Kudos to Marni Mann.
review 2: About 5 minutes after I finished the first book from The Memoir Series, I found this book on B&N for $4.99, bought it, and de
... morevoured it within the nexy 24 hours.I wanted so bad to have all the questions answered from the first book, and the sequel definitely gave them to me. Watching Cole struggle day after day with almost giving into her addiction was terrifying and mesmerizing to me, as a person who has never had a drug addiction. It is so scary to imagine wanting something so badly even though you know it will destroy everything you have, AGAIN. Marni Mann did an amazing job with this sequel. It answered all of my questions from the first book and kept the story going. Watching her past continue to come back to her and threaten to tear her world apart again was heartbreaking... and the only reason I rated this as a 4 instead of a 5 was the ending. I felt that Cole had been through enough and to end the series (assuming there isn't more books, idk?) so quickly was hard to read. I wanted her to have a happy ending, or at least one that wasn't so abrupt! I will end this review by saying once again I will DEFINITELY be reading more by Marni. Cole (I lovingly call her this as I feel like part of the family by now ;]) will stay in my mind for quite a while. This is not a book/series that is easily forgotten. less
