review 1: I give this more like 2.5 stars. I really liked the concept, but the writing just fell short for me. The grammatical and spelling errors were hard to ignore. I liked the characters, but I would have liked to see more development and background on both. I didn't understand why Mike was even drawn to Melissa. I also thought that Melissa was a bit immature at times and her clinginess baffled me. I was enjoying the story until the author brought in the Twilight book comparisons. Not only do the references to Bella and her vampire boyfriend date the story, it completely brought me out of the story. I mean, instead of asking her own vampire about the myths, Melissa decides to go and see one of the Twilight movies? Really? I hope the writing improves in the next... more one.
review 2: It started as a normal hot summer day , Melissa and her two friends Sarah and Debbie hoping to cool off are spending the day at the local watering hole . It then moves to a scene similiar in Eclipse movie where Melissa is standing on an Eight-foot cliff ready to jump, nervous she goes for it . However , for Melissa -unlike her friends the jump causes a near-death experience for her, almost drowning. Melissa is then rescued by Michael. Michael is the hottest hunk that Melissa and her friends have ever met . Why would he be interested in Melissa, she is the type of girl who seems to hang back whilst her friends date all the hot guys. However, Michael has a dark secret, he is in fact a Vampire and out to protect Melissa from the evil surrounding her and coming to get her as Melissa too has a secret that has been yearning to be awakened. Will Melissa ad Michael work out their differences or will Melissa believe that Michael is just another jerk and this time one with a fantasy tale web of lies and will it be too late for Michael to save Melissa as trouble is thrust upon him?For a fast-paced and thrilling tale of Urban Vampire Paranormal - Check out Martin Sharlow's Shades of Twilight , a book that I am looking forward to reading the sequel as the last page reads "TO BE CONTINUED". less
