review 1: I have really enjoyed this series. Especially the focus on solving historical mysteries. It's been very interesting and I have enjoyed the character development. My only critique would be that sometimes I felt that the main characters background was used too often as her reason for behaving a certain way. I do agree that her background would of course influence her, but I certainly don't use life changing events as my rationale for behaving a certain way or thinking a certain thing every single day or time it happens. I appreciate that Daisy is aware of why she behaves as she does, but just think it's reiterated a little too often.
review 2: I had a little bit of a harder time with this book than the previous one. For some reason, it seemed like Daisy regresse
... mored a few years, calling her baby "the kid" constantly (don't know why that bugged me so much) and calling Gordon "Gordo." It just seemed like she was a slightly different person than the first novel, and not really for the better. I really enjoyed Rachel's story, and the story of the mysterious recipe box, but it didn't draw me in as much as the first novel. less
