review 1: I would actually give this book a 3.5 rating and a 4 if it were better edited. I loved the story with its happy and in some cases realistic endings. I liked the bakery and the quest to find out answers through historical records (would have liked to hear more in this regard), and the ghosts were great! The few mistakes in things like timing and change of color (a fabric goes from blue to red) I could overlook, but the hundreds (or so it seemed) references to long fingers running through the hair and tears clogging her throat (what? tears in the throat?) did drive me crazy. Most of the book is nicely written, good plot, good characters and wonderful setting. But, a note to Ms. Taylor, get a better editor!
review 2: I enjoyed reading The Union Street Bakery
... more. This story seems to be a typical "coming home after trying to flee" kind of story but for the many twists. When Daisy loses her job and her love, she moves home to work at the family bakery which is on the verge of financial collapse. With the help of a couple of ghosts, a mysterious journal, and an old friend Daisy comes to grip with her past and begins to discover who she really is. less
