review 1: I loved this story! It's written in the first person, and I found myself getting picked up and carried along into Mia's life, and that of her wacky Italian family. I really like books with humor, and Mia had me chuckling constantly. There's great dialogue, enjoyable characters, and one gets so attached, it's a hard book to put down. With lines like – Trying to get my mother alone at a party was like trying to isolate one snowflake in a blizzard. – how could you not like the writing. Oh did I mention there's a murder? And…did I mention the great Italian recipes? It's a 5 star delight!!
review 2: An enjoyable, quick read about a family of recovering mobsters living and working on an olive orchard. The main character Mia spent a lot of time in the book sell
... moreing her family's olive oil to the readers, which seemed a bit ridiculous, and was a bit annoying, but it really didn't distract overly much from the story itself. The cast of characters are colourful and eccentric, and the mystery was rife with suspects. The ultimate reveal of the murderer was successful - I hadn't guessed who it was before they were unmasked. The very end of the story leaves the door open for the next mystery, coming out in 2013. less
