review 1: pros: easy read (not too emotional), hero/heroine are very likeable, historical and traditional factscons: some modern language, too much info on sex (skipped most of them..they could have used the space better), cop out endingwith phillipa/mary/ivy/the earl....quick death and ivy and earl marrying because they love each other? kind of unbelievable since early would have dump right away if Philippa just did her "wifely duties" eghh really?
review 2: Very pleased with my second book by Mary Wine. I love cheering for the underdog. Ann is definitely treated like a dog because she is her father's eldest bastard child living in his home. The lady of the house is the antagonist but I fault Ann's father for putting his love family in this situation. The hero is fierc... moree yet supportive of his fake wife until the end. Wine includes sexy love scenes with explicit language, so be warned this is not a sweet romance. time period is described with just enough detail, definitely did not feel the urge to skip ahead. I will be reading more from Mary Wine. less
