review 1: Graphic novel depicting three journeys around the world in the late 1800s: Thomas Stevens, Nellie Bly, and Joshua Slocum. Each of them took a very different path and had a very different background. The art and lettering were clean and straightforward, with the exception of Slocum, who was arguably very insane, and the art and story reflected that. The other two were more interesting for me, and I enjoyed reading a little history from a fun YA-appealed narrative.

... moregh the lens of Matt Phelan. I was especially struck by the sad and somewhat mysteriously simple story of Joshua Slocum. What interesting and brave people -- it's a little sad to think how quickly they were forgotten. less
