review 1: Oh. My. Gosh, this book was really, really good. It was a roller coaster, but not a crazy one. I instantly loved the characters from the moment I cracked opened this book. I love Persephone and Azriel, and speaking of Azriel... HOT. So our story starts out with Persephone, a rebellious slave to a very horrible man. One night, Azriel, a chicken thief, turns up and tries to steal one of the chickens on Persephone's farm. They fight, and argue and say things that were really funny, but Azriel ends up taking the chicken and she is blamed for it the next day... but the next day also brings surprises as Azriel shows up dressed as a lord and BUYS Persephone. Persephone is reluctant with him, especially when he shares that he is actually a Gypsy, and he needs her for a very import... moreant mission. I'm going to stop explaining there, as I don't want to spoil anymore, but it was a really good story. The attraction between Persephone and Azriel was undeniable, and I was so mad when it ended with a cliffhanger! If your looking for a book with adventure, Mystery, intrigue, humor and romance, then this is it. I can't wait to read the second book in this series :)
review 2: I really enjoyed this book!! I seriously loved it! And I was pleasantly surprised to find that Maureen Fergus was born in my meager "city" of Regina. How refreshing to find that one of my favorite books was written by someone who was born in my hometown! Anyway, I must confess that I am in love with Azriel and admire Persephone. I eagerly await A Fool's Errand. :) Though I'm not really sure when the book will arrive in Regina... less
