review 1: entretenido como todos los libros de Hastings. muestra el papelón que hicieron los britanicos en la 2GM y cómo Churchill tuvo que lidiar con prácticamente todo el mundo, desde los mineros y estibadores hasta salir corriendo de Dunkerke. como buen británico, Hastings sigue empleando términos como "bombardeo táctico" para las matanzas de civiles alemanes y hace una finta para justificar la entrega de media Europa a Stalin incluyendo la traición a Polonia. Sin embargo muestra el gremio de Churchill. El libro es entretenido de leer y muy documentado. el gran libro que falta es acerca de Stalin en la 2GM.
review 2: An honest read. Churchill is portrayed as a great, but flawed, war leader, transcending the political and military background from which he becam... moree Prime Minister. From the early days of his ministry, when the nation was desperate for any good news, to the end of WW2, when he was fighting to maintain Britain's position amongst the victorious superpowers, despite Britain no longer having the muscle - political, military or financial - to sustain such a position, Churchill's leadership is examined. There were plenty of good and bad decisions, but Hastings is correct in saying that he was the right war leader at the right time, and transcended national and international politics at that time. less
