review 1: Anything I write will not do justice to this amazing recounting of Ms. Angelou's relationship with her mother. I am just flat out amazed at the strength and wisdom of the women of this family. This was a quick read, but so full of depth, wisdom, love, humor and pain. I have never read a lot of Maya Angelou, but I am eager to read her now. How did I miss such a treasure for so long? Shame on me! review 2: Loved this book, although it was too short! I would have liked for it to go on. I only knew Ms. Angelou as a poet; I had no idea she'd done other things. I vaguely remembered some stuff from I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, but I read that 20 years ago so I think I'll need to read it again. I just love reading about her amazing life and I love that she's p... moreractically written more autobiographical work than anything else! All that and still so humble: a lesson for us all. less
