Dukes Behaving Badly
review 1: "The Duke's Guide to Correct Behavior" by Megan Frampton. What an enjoyable read! This one is the newest addition to my favorites shelf. Throughout I was smiling and chuckling, even when there was heartbreak. Lily and Marcus are thoroughly entertaining. The though processes each go through while figuring things out are quite humorous. Marcus, the Duke, really has no clue how to be a Duke and yet, he encompasses all the qualities that a true Duke should. Lily, his governess and not of the same social class, is not only sweet and kind, she has no qualms of stating her opinion to the Duke about the Duke. Watching the relationship grow and bloom is endearing as it happens. The only thing that I was slightly disappointed (and I mean slightly) in was the ending (epilogue... more) - I suppose it's because I didn't want the story to end and was hoping to read a bit more about Lily and Marcus. For a light and romantic read, don't miss out on this one! (Received copy for honest review)
review 2: I enjoyed reading The Duke's Guide to Correct Behavior. It was a somewhat typical governess-falls-for-the-employer story, but it had very likable characters and a lot of charm. Frampton's style is a little quirky and might not appeal to some, but I enjoy it. There are many instances where the reader not only sees the hero or heroine's point of view, but actually is privy to their scattered thoughts. Our heroine was innocent, but certainly knew how to feel attraction for a handsome man. The author did a good job of developing the hero's change from dissolute and confused into a mature father. The story was not particularly original. The situation was a little too obvious. My biggest complaint was the ending which was just way too easily solved. It bugs me when an author creates legitimate barriers to the relationship and then the characters just say - We don't care about those barriers; we are going to go for it anyway. Way too easy. BUT this was an enjoyable read and I look forward to the next one in the series. less
