review 1: My review from amazon.com dated 11/13/2013Title: Author has created a great new DystopiaThis book is about the Second Chance Institute, however many people on earth don't REALLY know what they do. Kira believes that going to SCI would be the best for her even though her best friend and boyfriend aren't as sure. However, something horrific happens to Kira and she feels like going to the SCI will take her away from the sadness she now has. She received more than she bargained.I really enjoyed the fact that I couldn't decide who I wanted her to be with more Ethan or Blake. Unlike Twilight, I always wanted Bella to be with Edward, but I kept bouncing back and forth and didn't know for sure who the author was going to choose. The author creates a very interesting and new environ... morement that is the opposite of Earth. I was lucky enough to get this book when it was free and will be reading the next book that just came out to discover where everything will lead.
review 2: There's an interesting premise behind the book, which I won't spoil, but it's not developed enough. The usual conspiracy theories are developed, with an oddly chaste (for young adult fiction) series of subplots. The book just ends up being tied together far too neatly and with few surprises--the purported surprises were telegraphed from some distance. There are better YA dystopian novels out there. less
