review 1: Melissa gave us a solid book about being completely broken down by life and love but finding the strength to move on and search inside yourself for who you really are and to accept and love yourself.Kennie is a heartbreaking heroine. I could literally visualize her body language and feel her sense ofunworthiness as a person. Her hard knocks in life have left her self confidence in tatters and her belief in herself nonexistent. Her story and that of Drew is told in alternating POV's with flashbacks of their younger life and how they "clicked." Due to the pain in her past in relationships, Kennie is unable to even accept that Drew could be interested when he returns to her city after a 10 year plus departure. Kennie doesn't even recognize him at first. But their story plod... mores along, as does the cast of characters who flow in and out of this story. Drew is determined to win Kennie, even though he has some major honesty issues himself. I loved how big brother Kip stood up for Kennie. I wish that all young women had a brother who cherished them that much :) He was a firecracker for his little sister! Delgado allows us to watch the re-emergence of McKenzie like a butterfly from her cocoon as she comes into her own with Jax and Drew's help. The ending was fraught with tension but finally calmed down and gave us a HEA for these two folks. I was a bit ticked off at Drew but finally did some deep breathing tricks to settle myself down. So who is next? Kip is my guess :)
review 2: A chance to finally be with her childhood crush Drew after losing contact for 11 years, can Mackenzie overcome her inner demons of not feeling whole, worthy of love, and getting her happily ever after? This story was very well written and has characters a lot of us as readers can relate to. I myself am jealous of the over protective big brother you see in Kip and the in your face,I'm here brother you see in Drew's sibling Jax.Melissa L.Delgado had me from the prologue to the epilogue with her amazing writing. A lot of heart is in this book, and I didn't have a single tear left to shed once I finished. There is humor, and there is raw, real emotions that I think many females can sympathize with. Can't wait to see what she has in store for us next, and I'm overly excited to read more into Jax's life!! less
